When does Drift launch in Jamaica?
Riders can book from October 1, 2026. Driver onboarding opens in September 2026 so verified, licensed drivers are already approved and on the road when booking goes live.
Which cities will Drift cover?
Kingston and St Andrew, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril, Portmore and Spanish Town at launch, plus airport transfers from Norman Manley International (KIN) and Sangster International (MBJ). Coverage expands parish by parish as more drivers are approved.
Is there Uber in Jamaica?
Yes. Uber operates in Kingston and Montego Bay. Coverage thins outside the two main cities, so Ocho Rios, Negril, Portmore and much of the rest of the island still run on route taxis and charter taxis. Lyft does not operate in Jamaica. How much will a ride cost?
Fares are quoted in Jamaican dollars and shown in full before you book. Drift prices by distance and time — no meter, no negotiating at the roadside. Payment comes from the card saved in your app.
How do I become a Drift driver in Jamaica?
Onboarding opens September 2026. Download the app, choose "Drive with Drift", and upload your driver’s licence, vehicle documents, TRN and police record — verification happens before your first trip. Drivers are responsible for holding whatever licences Jamaican law requires to carry paying passengers.
Can I use Drift for airport transfers?
Yes. From October 1, 2026 you can book to and from Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) in Kingston and Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay. Download the app before you fly so your account and card are ready when you land.
Do I need a separate app for Jamaica?
No. Drift is one app everywhere we operate. If you already use Drift in the Cayman Islands, the same account works in Jamaica — the app detects your region and switches to Jamaican dollars automatically.

Is it safe to take taxis in Jamaica?
Use licensed vehicles — look for the red PPV plates — and avoid unmarked cars offering rides, particularly at airports and late at night. Agree the fare before setting off.
